Why the balloons? One of the sessions in our LIVElife programme deals with the hopes and dreams of the young people - and the ways in which the choices they will make can impact on those dreams. Balloons (which may or may not be popped, depending on the choices) are an integral part of the session and add much fun to the learning experience. At the close of the camp the groups are given helium balloons on which the children write their hopes and dreams. The balloons are then released to the heavens as we offer the children and their futures to a loving God.
It is a sacramental moment, so we thought it fitting to use a photograph which captured that moment, with the beautiful Du Toitskloof mountains in the background. The balloons remind us of God's extravagant love and unconditional grace, the mountains remind us of the source of our strength, while the doves speak of the Holy Spirit who makes these experiences real for us. |
